DEPUTY MINISTER SAYS SOCIAL CASH TRANSFER PROGRAMME IS SIGNIFICATNLY CHANGING LIVES OF ULTRA-POOR IN KASUNGU

On 13th October 2022, the Deputy Minister of Gender, Community Development & Social Welfare Agness Nkusa Nkhoma MP said that the Social Cash Transfer Programme (SCTP) is significantly changing people's lives in the country. The remarks were made at Kadifula Primary school during the SCTP advocacy visit in Kasungu District.

The purpose of the visit was for the Deputy Minister to see and witness for herself how the program is working in the District. She advised SCTP beneficiaries to continue to invest their money in meaningful businesses so that they can be sustainable.

The SCTP that is helping the ultra-poor to enable them to send their children to school and also develop a culture of savings.

The Deputy Minister concluded her speech by thanking the World Bank for funding the project in Kasungu District. The World Bank fund over 17,000 households in Kasungu, with over 50% of them being female headed households.
