Nkhata-Bay District Commissioner advises SCTP beneficiaries to prepare for graduation to pave way for new beneficiaries

Nkhata-Bay district commissioner Rodgers Newa has warned beneficiaries of social cash transfer programme in the district to be mindful of the four-year timeframe they will be receiving cash through the programme and paveway for new beneficiaries.

Newa has said this today during disbursement of cash to the beneficiaries at Mathamanda primary school in Senior Chief Timbiri's area saying if they misuse the funds they will remain poor after their four-year period.

In the area of Senior Chief Timbiri, over K36 million will be disbursed to 963 households while over K7 million will be delivered to 193 households at Tayambapo village cluster in the district.

Meanwhile Senior Chief Timbiri has asked government through NKhata-Bay district council to provide his office with list of beneficiaries for proper monitoring of the beneficiaries economic activities being carried out using the money.

Some of the beneficiaries, Ella Chirwa and Frank Kamanga who sale tomatos and are keeping goats respectively have received about K50,000 each after the revised monthly minimum of K9,000, say they will use the funds to boost their businesses.
