Ntcheu District Council held a District Executive Committee (DEC) meeting on 7th January 2022, where DoDMA and the Ministry of Gender, Community Development & Social Welfare (MoGCDSW) were orienting the DEC members on the Lean Season Response.

The Lean Season Response will see the Social Cash Transfer Programme (SCTP) and non SCTP households benefit from the response for two (2) months, January and February 2022 with each household receiving K18,000 per month.

This Lean Season Response in Ntcheu is funded by the Government of Ireland. DEC members are grateful to the Government for considering Ntcheu for this good initiative as it will cushion households affected by food shortages during the lean period. The Ntcheu District Commissioner commented that the response is timely. In total 15,921 households in Ntcheu will benefit from the Lean Season Response.
